KS3 Religious Studies

In years 7 and 9 pupils have two hours of RS a week and 3 hours in year 8.

The department currently follow the ICONS scheme of work at KS3 which allows students to explore, predominantly the Christian faith but also gives them the opportunity to look at Hinduism, Islam and Judaism.

The course allows students to learn about religion and to learn from religion in a fun and engaging way. Throughout the year students will complete projects and assessments on a variety of topics including fair trade, creation, sacramental life and pilgrimage

In year 9 students complete the humanities GCSE RE component which gives them the opportunity to explore key pieces of Christian teaching, as well as how Christianity has an impact on people’s lives. The completion of this course also gives students a firm base for GCSE Religious Studies.
